After studying commercial cookery and food promotion, Kate began
working in the test kitchens of Murdoch Books. Her role included
developing, writing and testing recipes and cooking for photographic
shoots. She later became manager of the Test Kitchen.
Leaving Murdoch Books, Kate began working as a Food Editor with
Donna Hay, where she was able to gain experience from Donna’s
hands on approach to help develop her food styling skills. She learnt
the importance of making the food in front of the camera look
natural, effortless and beautiful in a classic, simple style.
Having returned to freelance contributing, Kate worked as Food
Editor for the News Ltd Taste.com.au liftout for 4 years. Her role
involved writing and testing recipes, organising photo shoots and
food styling for both editorial and advertising.
Kate currently works extensively with print media and advertising
clients, on-line projects and PR companies - developing and writing
recipes, editing, food styling and cooking for photography.
She works regularly as a team with her photographer husband Oliver
Ford, who shares her love of food.
